Cost of Valuation - fees determined as of July 2011

(Hier kunt u de taxatietarieven in het Nederlands lezen)

Douwes Fine Art values paintings, drawings, watercolours, prints and sculptures from the 15th century to the present day art, acting within the guidelines of the Dutch ‘Federatie TMV’ (Federation of Valuers/Appraisers, Brokers and Auctioneers in Movable Goods).  We value individual works as well as large collections, both at home and abroad, and apply the following criteria (all listed fees are excluding VAT):

Verbal valuation: if you visit our gallery for a verbal valuation with the item in question in hand, the minimum fee will be €150.  When several items need to be valued there is an extra fee of €60 per item, unless otherwise agreed in advance.

Written valuation*: for a detailed written valuation for private insurance purposes (replacement value over a period of 3 to 4 years) the fees are as follows:

-  a flat fee of €150
-  2‰ up to €500,000
-  1‰ above €500,000

Example: for a drawing with an insurance value of €45,000, the cost will be the fixed minimum fee of €150, plus 2‰ of €45,000.  Total €240.
Example: for a painting with an insurance value of €750,000, the cost will be the fixed minimum fee of €150, plus 2‰ up to €500,000 and 1‰ of €250,000.  Total €1,400.

For an valuation for a private insurance value of multiple objects/items simultaneously* the same fees as mentioned above will apply.  However, an administration fee of €30 per item may be added.

For a valuation for probate and/or division of property* the fees are based on the above private insurance valuations.

For a re-valuation* after 3 or 4 years, only the value above your previous valuation total will be charged, provided the previous valuation was carried out by Douwes Fine Art.  In all cases where Douwes Fine Art is providing a valuation for the first time, the above mentioned valuation fees will apply.

Written authenticity or forgery statements* have a minimum fee of €250 plus an hourly fee of €120.  If a separate valuation report is desired, the same fees as shown for private insurance will be calculated.

* No travel expenses will be charged for valuations taking place within the Netherlands.
* An hourly fee of €120 will be charged for all written and verbal valuation assignments outside our Amsterdam gallery.
* Travel and accommodation expenses for valuations abroad will be agreed to in advance.  Again, an hourly fee of €120 will apply.

All the above mentioned fees are excluding VAT.  Within Europe 19% VAT is usually charged.  Outside Europe local VAT/sales tax rules will apply.
