Every Douwes generation has tried to connect with their own peers in order to instil the passion of art collecting according to their means. “During my early London years I became fascinated with the quality and skills of Russian painters from the Social-Realist period (also called: Russian Impressionism).
At the time the general idea of this 20th century Russian period was one of dark, difficult and inferior competence. However, we started to discover a colourful type of mostly genre painting, passionately executed with impressionistic and artistic technical abilities. Although part of this era has been influenced by political instability we focus primarily on the creative quality of a selective group of painters. Furthermore, the present prices are still affordable for young collectors with much room for increasing values.
